The Shimano ColtSniper BB has been a part of my fishing arsenal for a while now and has been an amazing performing rod for many different scenarios iv been using it for. I purchased this rod wanting to have a heavy beach and rock fishing setup the can handle the bigger fish while also being a very flickable and versatile rod that can either be used for the heavier spinning lures or the lighter soft plastics, Its exceptional build quality made for a great experience using this rod and I was overall very happy with my purchase i would defiantly recommend this rod for people looking for a great quality rod that can handle many different situations that you will need it for.
review on the action – the action of this rod was pretty good, it was nice and responsive and didn’t have to put a lot of effort into getting the action out of the lures that I was using which was nice, this rod is a medium heavy and it was very flickable and easy to manage I didn’t have any problem with the action. and the sensitivity was great easy to feel when I got the smaller hits that can sometimes be mistaken for your lures hitting any structures or seaweed so overall pretty happy with the action and sensitivity.
Versatility in Power Casting: the coltsniper BB definitely performed nicely with the casting power it has a really nice amount of flicking ability and isn’t to stiff while also being a really strong rod which is very nice especially when you are fishing lours that need a good amount of action when in the water it makes it a lot easier to do, also when casting the lighter soft plastics and hardbody lures it did very well in a lot of situations where I was fishing on the beach where majority of the fish where in the first bank drop off closer to the beach this rod easily got my lighter lours over the top so it could easily drag over the hole where most of the action was, when fishing on the rocks and looking for those bigger fish using heavier lures was super easy to cast where I needed and with a max of a 100gram/3.5ounce lures it will cast many of the heavy lures out there with ease and when you do get a hit from one of those monsters hanging around those rocks this rod is super strong and will handle a lot of the big fish out there. using the static 4000 also helped with the casting as its a extremely smooth and good quality reel and with the size of reel I picked its a great setup for the bigger fish when you need the extra drag and line to be able to confidently fight those bigger fish out there.
Adaptability Across Environments: this rod is very versatile, its the kind of rod that if it was the only rod you took on your fishing trip it would perform very well in multiple fishing situations and with all kinds of different lures such as sort plastics , hard body lures and bait fishing this rod will defiantly have no problem performing with all styles. when fishing smaller inlets and estuaries the length of this rod may not be ideal as the size and heavy power isn’t always needed but you certainly can still do it with no problem. this rod has also performs nicely in freshwater lakes and rivers making it a great versatile rod for any angler to own.
which reel did I pair it with: I chose to pair the coltsniper BB with the shimano static 4000 and the reason I chose this reel for this rod was with the types of fishing Im doing with this rod on the rocks and on the beach the static 4000 was a great option and balanced really well with the size of the rod and great for when you hook that big fish of the rocks or beach that just wants to run forever the heaver reel is definitely needed and I think the 4000 was a perfect fit for the medium heave power of this rod. while not being the cheapest reel it has a extremely smooth function and just makes the rod so much for enjoyable.
